Field Services Technician

Work Location: Houston, TX; Kingdom of Bahrain, Yokosuka, Japan; US Naval Ships abroad

TrustComm, Inc. is currently seeking a Field Services Technician. The Field Service Technician is responsible for performing satellite, application, network, equipment, and systems oversight for C4I systems aboard US Navy ships at sea. Primary tasks include hands on installation, operation and maintenance (IOM), administration, and advanced architecture troubleshooting as part of a team of contract and government engineering professionals. The candidate will assist Navy personnel in solving basic technical problems, resolve issues directly with DoD community customers, investigate issues, and elevate as necessary to the Tier III technical support group. The candidate should hold a successful track record supporting DoD network and communications systems, with experience solving problems and advancing requirements within a 24×7 environment. Applicants selected must have a minimum US SECRET clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance. This position is based from our Teleport offices located in Houston, TX at Ellington Field Joint Reserve Military Base, and will work remotely while performing installations/operations/maintenance (IOM).


  • Support a large scale virtual architecture and proactively respond to and fix issues with the application portal and networking backbone
  • Install, Operate, and Maintain mobile maritime satellite terminals, fiber optic and LTE distribution
  • Provide customers with responsive, concise and accurate status or service updates, issues and risks
  • Interact in a technical team environment with software, network and systems engineers
  • Identify, document, track and escalate issues to the Tier III support group as necessary
  • Utilize network related protocols and services as well as LAN/WAN implementation and troubleshooting
  • Provide assistance with large scale system and architecture implementation and operational support
  • Diagnosis of system issues and fault isolation


  • Two year college degree, or equivalent, in electronics, computer science, information systems and/or related technical school
  • Minimum of 4 years experience in virtual computing, fiber optics, LTE, and/or Satellite systems
  • DOD or military operations experience a strong plus
  • Ability to adapt to remote field sites
  • Active in-scope DOD Secret or Top Secret clearance

Necessary Skills / Attributes:

  • The ability to plan, organize and prioritize multiple, simultaneous projects and performance objectives.
  • Work independently, or in a team environment, to install, operate, and maintain assigned networks and complete assignments within established time frames.
  • Accept tasks and problems/situations that differ, requiring creativity to search for optimal solutions, when only broad and general guidelines exist.
  • Make professional technical presentations in writing, through email, reports, or orally, to internal and external customers and leadership.

Physical/Mental Demands:

  • Work is generally performed aboard ship or naval bases ashore.
  • The ability to lift 50 lbs and transport 50 meters unaided.
  • The ability to climb steep staircases/ladders with tight tolerances.
  • Perform work under time schedules and stress which are normally periodic or cyclical, including time sensitive deadlines, intellectual challenges and project management deadlines.
  • Travel and work on site is expected to be 50-75%
